There is no question that companies who do not create and maintain a blogging response policy will fail in protecting their brand, values and customer service levels. Would companies allow people publishing any type of critisism in a paper without responding?

The hype and hysteria from corporations regarding blogs is completely out of proportion - just like the Millennium bug nonsense was. Now numbering in hundreds of millions, they are the refuge of the born complainer and the devious marketeer trying to promote products. Ultimately, they will be ignored. Just watch this space!

Kind of annoying you chose a blog where you can't do anonymous comments...:(
Blogs can be really good, and i've read some that really let you know how terrible or how great a company is. However, when it's praising someone I tend to get a bit cinical and wonder if it's just covert advertising. Also, you can't trust everyone on the net and there are people who will just whine about anything, whether it's true or not.

Sadly I totally agree with Peter James @ 11:02 PM. Thing's on T'Internet move so fast I suspect Blogging will continue but never be a major article withing the Internet. Too much "SPAM" and whining I think, Bloggong will fade away to a minor function of the Net.

I would be really interested to know how firms are dealing with blogs complaining about poor customer service.
One lady took out a cheap Google small add about her dispute with a large company. Her blolgspot outranked the official company website on Google.

Sadly it's probably true that anything spent by companies to have sufficient resource to respond to all possible blogs, would result in the cost being passed on to the consumer.

As we are takling about Business Criticism. I could say NTL Sucks!
We canceled our service with them in January and then noticed recently we are still being charged by them. When we phoned up to complain, they denied all knowledge of our cancellation. They want to take our 30 day's notice from now. We don't want to pay for their incompetence. We are canceling the direct debit and going to battle it out with them.

with a blog, content and presentaton are crucial.you need it be updated regularly and keep it interesting to get people to come back, and make it easy to read when they are there and not swamped with ads or let down by bad design.

Declan, I sometimes wish you would only read out figures and statistics that mean something to ordinary viewers - ie Your pound is worth 1.46 euros which is an increase.

How about a story on how High Street Banks make higher and higher profits while the staff salaries on the front line barely increase. The Sun had a story yesterday on Lloyds TSB staff getting a profit share of 3% of salary in shares that they can't sell for 3-5 years. Plus that the chairman got 1.9 MILLION salary and £460000 in pnsion top up. what would you rather get 3% or 2.5 MILLION?
